“After we decided to focus on Christ coming as light this Christmas, the symbolism of the Advent story began to come alive to me in new ways. I started to ask, ‘Why was Christ born in the darkness? What was the connection between Mary’s womb and the tomb of Christ?’ And finally, ‘What does all this have to do with me?’ This song is part of my own journey to find answers to these questions. My hope is that we, as God’s people, can ask these questions together as we wait for Him this Christmas." - Stephen Gordon

A light for the world where the animals sleep

The great morning Sun as a child would be laid

Who could have known that a star in the sky
Would lead to the One who was piercing the night
Who could have known that a virgin’s womb
Was hiding the light that the World would see soon
